Eiffage Energía develops a platform for the comprehensive management of projects

Plataforma para gestión de proyectos Eiffage Energía

Eiffage Energía will develop, within the period of one year, a platform for the comprehensive management of engineering and infrastructure construction projects, under a collaboration agreement signed with the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) through the European Regional Development Fund.

Through this project, which has a total budget of just over one million euros, Eiffage Energía will develop a construction management system which will take advantage of the potential of big data to attain the traceability of all construction processes from the engineering phase to the final phase of testing and implementation.

This project arises from the need to facilitate project management systems included in enterprise management systems, which are currently subject to severe limitations by the intrinsic constraints of such systems.

This has caused support and maintenance applications to be developed in highly specialised environments, performing made to measure complementation for each company, which has caused the non-standardisation of information from these applications and its being disregarded by the management system, which considers it to be fairly useless.

Industry 4.0

This platform will cover different user profiles, such as site personnel, customer service, managers or customers, and different ways to access data and utilities.

This proposal consists of digitalising tests and checks as they are automatically generated, making the task easier for operators. The readings of the different measuring equipment composing a specific test may be acquired through bluetooth technology from a tablet, without the technician having to type in the data on a form. Such readings may be of dimensions, from a voltmeter, an image from a thermographic camera, photographs, etc.

Once the test is validated, the data are sent to the central unit and collected in a cloud application that directly stores them in a repository linking them to their corresponding project and customer. Equipment, in this way, is provided with cloud connectivity. In relation to the performance of the test, the time it was made, the number of measurements, the geographical coordinates, etc., will be included.

The aim of the platform is to improve project management and the attainment of knowledge. That is, information from engineering project development systems and ERP will be collected on the platform the knowledge will be extracted and assimilated by the company.

Specifically, it is a management system which, in a first phase, will be applied to solar photovoltaic plants.
For its implementation, the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), a public business entity responsible for the management and development of the technological innovation policy of Spain’s Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, has awarded Eiffage Energá a grant of 52 % of the project’s total budget, jointly financed through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Operational Programme Smart Growth 2014-2020.
