Repsol awards Eiffage Energia the contract for construction of six wind farms in Aragon

Eiffage Energía is the company responsible for the construction of six wind farms, two electrical substations, two high-voltage lines and one medium-voltage line for Repsol in Aragón, in the provinces of Teruel and Zaragoza. The project as a whole represents a total capacity of 237 MW at the Hilada Honda and Las Majas VII A, B, C, D and E wind farms. According to information recently published by El Periódico de Aragón, Aragón was the number one renewable energy region in Spain last year, particularly in terms of wind power. Wind turbines commissioned during 2019 added 1,025 megawatts (MW) to the power output of the leading green technology, which increased its capacity in the community by 49% to a record 3,121 MW. In this way, the community of Aragon has become the epicentre of the energy transition in Spain, leading the development of renewables. In fact, it is the self-governing community that raised its clean energy capacity the most in 2019.

REPSOL TARGET: NET ZERO CARBON EMISSIONS BY 2050

With this project, Repsol becomes a client of Eiffage Energía in the renewable energy sector, having announced last December that it was going to refocus the company’s strategy to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Repsol’s renewable assets under development have a total capacity of 2,045 MW, which together with the 2,952 MW of total installed capacity that the company currently has, consolidates Repsol as a major player in the generation of low-emission electricity on the Iberian Peninsula. It should be noted that Eiffage Energía installed a total of 1,012 MW of photovoltaic energy and 250 MW of wind energy through projects in Spain, Mexico, Chile, Senegal and Belgium in 2019. Figures that make it one of the companies that has built the most renewable facilities in Spain.
