Colonial. Eiffage Energía will carry out the medium and low voltage electrical installations, as well as the mechanical installations for an Office Building for Colonial, through Sacyr Infraestructuras. This is a unique project, located in a strategic complex in Plaza Europa, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. It has a layout of 21 floors and 171 parking spaces. Work has already begun and is scheduled for completion in August 2022. It has a installations budget of approximately €2,800,000, which aims to contribute to and help achieve the LEED GOLD environmental qualification.
HVAC installations
Therefore, our mechanical installations department in Catalonia will carry out the HVAC installations for the office building and car park. Specifically:
- Air conditioning using four-pipe chillers and fan coil units in offices and communal areas.
- Office ventilation with air handling units in offices and communal areas.
- Bathroom ventilation and extraction.
- Ventilation and overpressure in the car park.
As regards the electrical Infrastructure, the medium voltage (2000 KVA), low voltage and special installations will be developed.
Watson Tower in Méndez Alvaro, Madrid
We are also carrying out the air conditioning installations for the Watson Tower in the Méndez Alvaro area of Madrid. This building is also owned by Colonial and, once completed in 2022, will be the headquarters of the company Catalana Occidente. The Watson Tower is a 19-storey, 74-metre high tower that will help to shape the skyline of Madrid. The building was designed by the Lamela Studio, and its installations by the engineering company Acix. It will have a Leed C4 certification and a platinum rating.
Hybrid air-conditioning system
The building’s air-conditioning system is a hybrid air/water system with outside ventilation air and 4-pipe ducted fan coils. The DPC area has a connection to the general cooling system that will supply the inrow type close control units planned for each designed aisle, and confinement air conditioning with a hot and cold aisle. Heat will be produced by high efficiency, low temperature gas boilers with modulating burners; cold will be produced by chillers. One water-cooled condensing screw with high E.E.R. and one magnetic levitation chiller. The cooling towers will be of the open induced draught type.
This project poses a new technical and logistical challenge to Eiffage Energía in the development of new state-of-the-art buildings in Madrid.
It should be recalled that in 2017, Eiffage was also the company awarded a contract by Colonial, as sole contractor, for the construction of the above-ground phase of its emblematic prime office building in Barcelona’s 22@ innovation district.
