We have started work on the Almaraz I and II Photovoltaic Plant for Iberdrola in Cáceres

We have recently started work on the Almaraz I and II photovoltaic plant for Iberdrola in the province of Cáceres, which is scheduled for completion next summer.

Eiffage Energía is the company responsible for the engineering, construction, non-core supplies, assembly and commissioning of the plant, with a budget of over 9 million euros.

The plant will have a total power of 79.91 MWp, 49.93 MWp of which will be provided by Almaraz I and 29.98 MWp by Almaraz II.

Green energy for 60,000 families

It is located on a 95 hectare site, has an environmental plan to protect local bird species and flora, and will also allow alternative land uses and will produce energy to supply around 60,000 families, avoiding atmospheric emissions of over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. Local and/or regional companies and personnel will be hired for its construction.

The civil construction works will consist of building roads, drainage, foundations and trenches, as well as the perimeter fencing. For the mechanical assembly, 39,626 pole units, 2,045 fixed structure units and 177,915 photovoltaic module units will be installed.

Alongside this, the electrical cabling will be laid, low and medium voltage connections will be made to the project’s 11 storage batteries, monitoring and CCTV will be installed and final testing and commissioning will be carried out.

Electricity will be evacuated from the project through a 30 kV line that will pass underneath the A-5 motorway and connect to the transformer substation.

According to the latest figures, we have built 80 photovoltaic plants with an installed power of 3.5 GW. These figures put us as one of the leading companies in the construction of these facilities, both in Spain and internationally.

“Núñez de Balboa” solar farm

Among the latest photovoltaic projects carried out for Iberdrola, one of our main clients, special mention should be made of the “Núñez de Balboa” solar farm located in Usagre (Badajoz).

It is a 500 MW farm that supplies power to 250,000 people, avoiding atmospheric emissions of 215,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

Campo de Arañuelo I and II Solar Farm

This new Almaraz I and II project is located next to the 100 MWp Campo Arañuelo I-II Photovoltaic Plant, built by Eiffage Energía.

It consists of two photovoltaic plants, each with 50 MW of power, on a 210 hectare site with 259,680 modules.

These two projects, which will prevent atmospheric emissions of 37,000 tons of CO2 per year, will supply clean energy to about 65,000 people.

Ceclavín and Pizarro Solar Farm

Still in Extremadura, Eiffage Energía built the Ceclavín photovoltaic plant under a BOP arrangement. This plant has an installed power of 328 MW and was commissioned by Iberdrola in Cáceres.

This project will prevent atmospheric emissions of 110,000 tonnes of CO2 per year and provides green energy to around 210,000 people.

Eiffage Energía is also involved in the construction of the 590 MW Francisco Pizarro photovoltaic plant, located in Cáceres, between the local districts of Aldeacentenera and Torrecillas de la Tiesa, owned by the Iberdrola group.

The project, on a 827 hectare site, will be the largest in Europe when it comes into operation. It will supply clean energy to 375,000 people per year, which is equivalent to the populations of the cities of Cáceres and Badajoz, and its product will avoid atmospheric emissions of 245,000 tonnes of CO2.
