Eiffage will construct a photovoltaic plant in Chile of 103 MW for 135 million euros

Eiffage has just signed a contract to build the Huatacondo photovoltaic plant in Chile, specifically in the Atacama desert. Through its two subsidiaries, Eiffage Concessions and Eiffage Energía, this (103MW) photovoltaic plant will be built with an investment of 135 million euros.

For 30 years, the works and maintenance of the plant will be implemented by Eiffage Enegía, the Spanish subsidiary of Eiffage that counts on a wide experience in the field of high power solar plants.
For implementation of the project, Eiffage has associated with the Japanese groups Sojitz and Shikoku Electric Power. The financing of the assembly is secured by the three groups’ own funds, to which is added a bank loan guaranteed by the Japanese official export credit agency Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) and a business line of credit.

The Huatacondo photovoltaic plant project is part of Chile’s program «Power 2050», whose objective is to produce 70% of electricity with renewable energy sources by the year 2050. As the country develops economically, its electricity needs increase.

Eiffage Energía Chile, subsidiary company of the Group Eiffage Energía is specialised in the implementation and management of projects in the fields of energy, civil works and construction. The Huatacondo photovoltaic plant joins other projects that Eiffage Energía is carrying out in the country of Chile:

– Quilapilún photovoltaic plant (110 MW)
– Crucero solar photovoltaic plant (72 MW)
– Javiera photovoltaic plant (69 MW)
– San Andrés installation solar photovoltaic plant (50 MW)
– Punta Palmeras wind farm high voltage air power line (45 MW)

Each of the actions carried out, allow the company to continue developing in the sector of renewable energy in Latin America, where Eiffage Energía continues its mission to reduce CO2 levels and increase the use of cleaner energy, and, in essence, combat climate change.

This new photovoltaic contract in Chile illustrates Eiffage’s penetration in the market of solar energy production, with an installed capacity of over 1.5 GW in the world, consolidating its growth capacity and offering innovative solutions.
